The Art Factory Corp is a dedicated group of artists which was formed in 2010 for the purpose of investing time, energy and opportunities into the lives of emerging artists. We also seek to enliven, rejuvenate, and restore communities world wide via the Arts in particular Visual Arts. Based in the Black Forest region of southwest Germany, near to the borders of Switzerland and France, our organization, The Art Factory, seeks to bring emerging artists together from around the world, who will engage in their culture and community, through their art form. We encourage community involvement and learning.
Acknowledging that visual artists need space, connection with other artists, and good exposure to their world and community, the Holladays (Rick and Mary Beth) set out to find a location where these needs could begin to be realized. An abandoned roof tile factory in Kandern, Germany was purchased privately by the Holladays and offers 27,000 square feet (2400 m2) of raw space and potential for artists.
Rick and Mary Beth are paid staff of The Art Factory, and oversee volunteers and future staff who come to work with The Art Factory. They were on staff with a large Christian organization from 1978-2010. They have lived and worked at Penn State University, Cornell University, Vilnius, Lithuania and Kandern, Germany. Rick has his BFA in Graphic Design from Oregon State University. Mary Beth's degree is in Recreational Therapy. The Holladays have four daughters, who live in Seattle, and a cat named Mufasa. The Art Factory Corp is a non-profit faith informed Arts Endeavor in Europe.
